Professor B’s not so bright idea placed the kids in a dream state, while he teaches Rita the “Power Riff” I have the POWER!!
Lesson of the Day
Today’s lesson involves power chords using the “Power Riff” as an example for the four types of power chords that are being taught.
This is a simple system that I created to teach power chords to my students in my private teaching days. It’s very simple even Paris Hilton can learn it. =)
Refer to the comic above.
Starting with “open chords”: 01, 02. The “01” chord is an E5 chord, and the “02” is an A5 chord. The “5” indicates the 5th note of the root note is played as well, with no mid tone.
In the comic above, 31 and 32 are closed power chords, The “31” chord is a G5 chord and the “32” is an C5 chord. The second digit of each number are 1 or 2. It’s important to remember the “1” indicates the 1st power chord and the “2” indicates the 2nd power chord.
The first digit can be, 0 all the way up to 24 depending on the length of you guitar fretboard. You guessed it, the first digit indicates the fret number.
If you have a question go ahead and leave it in the comments section below.
Ya see…
Paris Hilton can do it. I’m gonna go buy her album. Ha!
